Sponsoring a New Member

For our club to continue to thrive and remain successful it needs new members!

Every Rotarian has the privilege and obligation to seek qualified members. In this way, all club members can help our club achieve a full representation of the business and professional life of our community. Membership is the means to accomplish Rotary’s mission and goal.

Rotary membership is by invitation only, so that puts all the responsibility on Rotarians to propose potential new members. Existing members are encouraged to think about which of their friends or colleagues could be good Rotarians. Discuss with them if they would be interested and if they are, propose sponsoring them to our club's Membership Committee.

In February 2006 the Board of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown decided to provide a one-time free lunch for invited prospective new members who attend with their sponsor.

Existing members can sponsor a potential new member by submitting a form (see below) to our club's Membership Committee. Following approval, the proposed new member interviews with a representative of the Committee and the Sponsor, to ensure that the proposed member really understands the nature of Rotary membership. Note that in February 2006 the Board of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown decided to provide a one-time free lunch for invited prospective new members who attend with their sponsor.

The form to be used to propose a new member can be downloaded below. It contains information that can help you assess if the person you are thinking about could be a good candidate for membership.
